As part of the preparatory activities of the REDD strategy in Costa Rica, a meeting was held on March 25, 2014 in order to inform different stakeholders about the approach followed in regard to the Safeguards Information System.

Participants of this activity were representatives of UN-REDD, UNEP and World Bank, as well members of the REDD Executive Committee, REDD strategic partners and Fonafifo staff.

The main objectives of this meeting were:

• Report about the safeguards approach followed during the preparation of the REDD strategy and the implementation of measures.
• Report on the design process of a Safeguard Information System that will report to the Climate Change Convention.

Participants had the chance to learn about the REDD + Strategy process as well as the conceptual and methodological aspects of the design of the REDD Safeguard Information System.
