The preparation of the REDD + strategy includes assessing land use, change of use engines, forest law, policy and governance to identify the main drivers of deforestation and / or degradation of forests and the activities related to conservation, sustainable management of forests and increase carbon stocks of forests.
It also includes strategic options, which are the basis for developing a range of policies and programs to reduce emissions from deforestation and / or forest degradation and enhance carbon sequestration in other REDD + activities. Also, the implementation framework, which defines the institutional, economic, legal and management mechanisms to execute options REDD + strategy is developed.
In addition, during the preparation of the REDD + strategy, a strategic environmental and social assessment (SESA) will be developed in order to assess the social and environmental impacts during construction of the strategy. The main product of this assessment is the for the Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF), which will guide the implementation of the REDD + strategy.
